마가복음 7:1-23

1 바리새파 사람들과 예루살렘에서 온 몇몇 율법학자들이 예수님께 왔습니다.
2 이들은 예수님의 제자들 가운데 몇 명이 더러운 손으로, 즉 씻지도 않은 손으로 빵을 먹는 것을 보았습니다.
3 바리새파 사람들과 모든 유대인들은 손을 씻기 전에는 결코 음식을 먹지 않습니다. 이것은 장로들의 전통을 지키는 것입니다.
4 시장에서 돌아오면 자신들의 몸을 깨끗하게 씻지 않고서는 음식을 먹지 않았습니다. 이 외에도 여러 가지 지켜야 할 일이 많았는데 컵이나 주전자, 냄비 그릇 그리고 침대를 씻는 것이었습니다.
5 바리새파 사람들과 율법학자들이 예수님께 말했습니다. “어째서 선생님의 제자들은 장로들의 전통을 지키지 않고, 더러운 손으로 음식을 먹습니까?”
6 예수님께서 대답하셨습니다. “이사야가 너희와 같은 위선자들에 대하여 쓴 것이 옳구나. ‘이 백성들이 입술로는 나를 공경하나, 마음은 내게서 멀구나.
7 헛되이 내게 예배를 드리고, 사람의 훈계를 교리인 양 가르친다.’
8 너희는 하나님의 계명은 무시하고 사람의 전통만 지키는구나.”
9 예수님께서 그들에게 말씀하셨습니다. “너희는 너희의 전통을 지키려고 하나님의 명령을 그럴듯하게 무시하는구나
10 모세는, ‘네 아버지와 어머니를 공경하여라. 아버지나 어머니를 욕하는 사람은 반드시 죽으리라’고 하였다.
11 그러나 너희는, ‘아버지나 어머니에게 드리려던 것이 고르반, 즉 하나님께 드리는 예물이 되었다’고 하면 그만이라고 한다.
12 그래서 자기 아버지나 어머니에게 아무것도 드리지 못하게 한다.
13 그러므로 너희는 너희들의 전통으로 하나님의 말씀을 깨뜨리고 있다. 너희는 이와 같은 일을 많이 하고 있다.”
14 예수님께서 사람들을 다시 불러서 말씀하셨습니다. “너희 모두 내 말을 듣고 깨달아라.
15 무엇이든지 사람 밖에서 몸 속으로 들어가 사람을 더럽히는 것은 아무것도 없다. 사람에게서 나오는 것이 사람을 더럽힌다.”

17 예수님께서 사람들과 헤어져 집에 들어오시자, 제자들이 이 비유에 대해 물었습니다.
18 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “너희는 아직도 깨닫지 못하겠느냐? 바깥에서 사람 속으로 들어가는 것이 사람을 더럽히지 못한다는 것을 깨닫지 못하느냐?
19 그것은 사람의 마음속에 들어가는 것이 아니라, 배로 들어가서 뒤로 나간다.” 그러므로 예수님께서는 모든 음식이 깨끗하다고 선언하셨습니다.
20 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “사람에게서 나오는 것, 바로 그것이 사람을 더럽히는 것이다.
21 속에서부터, 즉 사람의 마음으로부터 악한 생각, 음란, 도둑질, 살인,
22 간음, 탐욕, 악의가 나오며, 속임수, 방탕, 질투, 욕지거리, 교만, 어리석음이 나온다.
23 이 모든 악한 것들은 사람의 속에서 나와 사람을 더럽힌다.”

1 One day some Pharisees and teachers of religious law arrived from Jerusalem to see Jesus.
2 They noticed that some of his disciples failed to follow the Jewish ritual of hand washing before eating.
3 (The Jews, especially the Pharisees, do not eat until they have poured water over their cupped hands①, as required by their ancient traditions. / ①Greek have washed with the fist
4 Similarly, they don't eat anything from the market until they immerse their hands① in water. This is but one of many traditions they have clung to?such as their ceremonial washing of cups, pitchers, and kettles②.) / ①Some manuscripts read sprinkle themselves ②Some manuscripts add and dining couches
5 So the Pharisees and teachers of religious law asked him, "Why don't your disciples follow our age-old tradition? They eat without first performing the hand-washing ceremony."
6 Jesus replied, "You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you, for he wrote, `These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.
7 Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.'① / ①Isa 29.13 (Greek version)
8 For you ignore God's law and substitute your own tradition."
9 Then he said, "You skillfully sidestep God's law in order to hold on to your own tradition.
10 For instance, Moses gave you this law from God： `Honor your father and mother,'① and `Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.'② / ①Exod 20.12; Deut 5.16 ②Exod 21.17 (Greek version); Lev 20.9 (Greek version)
11 But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, `Sorry, I can't help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.'① / ①Greek `What I would have given to you is Corban' (that is, a gift)
12 In this way, you let them disregard their needy parents.
13 And so you cancel the word of God in order to hand down your own tradition. And this is only one example among many others."
14 Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. "All of you listen," he said, "and try to understand.
15 It's not what goes into your body that defiles you; you are defiled by what comes from your heart."

17 Then Jesus went into a house to get away from the crowd, and his disciples asked him what he meant by the parable he had just used.
18 "Don't you understand either?" he asked. "Can't you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you?
19 Food doesn't go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer." ① / ①By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God's eyes
20 And then he added, "It is what comes from inside that defiles you.
21 For from within, out of a person's heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder,
22 adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness.
23 All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you."
