마가복음 8:27-9:1

27 예수님께서 제자들과 함께 가이사랴 빌립보에 있는 마을로 가셨습니다. 가시는 도중에 예수님께서 제자들에게 물으셨습니다. “사람들은 나를 누구라고 하느냐?”
28 제자들이 대답했습니다. “세례자 요한이라고 합니다. 어떤 사람들은 엘리야라고도 합니다. 그리고 또 어떤 사람들은 예언자 가운데 한 사람이라고 합니다.”
29 예수님께서 제자들에게 물으셨습니다. “그러면 너희는 나를 누구라고 하느냐?” 베드로가 대답했습니다. “주님은 그리스도이십니다.”
30 예수님께서 제자들에게 아무에게도 자신에 대해서 말하지 말라고 엄히 이르셨습니다.
31 <고통과 부활을 예언하심> 예수님께서, 인자가 많은 고통을 받고, 장로들과 대제사장과 율법학자들에게 배척을 당하며, 죽임을 당하고, 삼 일 뒤에 다시 살아날 것을 제자들에게 가르치셨습니다.
32 예수님께서 드러내 놓고 말씀을 하시니, 베드로가 예수님을 붙들고 말렸습니다.
33 예수님께서 돌아서서 제자들을 보시고, 베드로를 꾸짖으셨습니다. “사탄아 내 뒤로 썩 물러나라! 너는 하나님의 일은 생각지 않고, 사람들의 일을 생각하는구나.”
34 예수님께서 제자들과 사람들을 불러 말씀하셨습니다. “누구든지 나를 따르려면, 자기를 부인하고, 자기 십자가를 지고 나를 따라오너라.
35 누구든지 자기 목숨을 구하고자 하면 잃을 것이다. 누구든지 나와 복음을 위하여 자기 목숨을 버리면 목숨을 구할 것이다.
36 만일 온 세상을 얻고도 자기의 생명을 잃는다면, 무슨 유익이 있겠느냐?
37 사람이 자기 영혼을 무엇과 바꾸겠느냐?
38 누구든지 이 음란하고, 죄가 많은 세대에서 나와 내 말을 부끄럽게 여기면 인자도 아버지의 영광으로 천사들과 함께 올 때, 그를 부끄럽게 여길 것이다.”
1 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “내가 너희에게 진정으로 말한다. 여기 서 있는 사람 가운데서, 몇 사람은 죽기 전에 하나님 나라가 권세 있게 오는 것을 볼 것이다.”

27 Jesus and his disciples left Galilee and went up to the villages near Caesarea Philippi. As they were walking along, he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"
28 "Well," they replied, "some say John the Baptist, some say Elijah, and others say you are one of the other prophets."
29 Then he asked them, "But who do you say I am?" Peter replied, "You are the Messiah①." / ①Or the Christ. Messiah (a Hebrew term) and Christ (a Greek term) both mean "the anointed one."
30 But Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
31 Then Jesus began to tell them that the Son of Man① must suffer many terrible things and be rejected by the elders, the leading priests, and the teachers of religious law. He would be killed, but three days later he would rise from the dead. / ①"Son of Man" is a title Jesus used for himself
32 As he talked about this openly with his disciples, Peter took him aside and began to reprimand him for saying such things①. / ①Or began to correct him
33 Jesus turned around and looked at his disciples, then reprimanded Peter. "Get away from me, Satan!" he said. "You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's."
34 Then, calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, "If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross, and follow me.
35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.
36 And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul?① / ①Or your self? also in 8.37
37 Is anything worth more than your soul?
38 If anyone is ashamed of me and my message in these adulterous and sinful days, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when he returns in the glory of his Father with the holy angels."
1 Jesus went on to say, "I tell you the truth, some standing here right now will not die before they see the Kingdom of God arrive in great power!"
