마가복음 14:1-11

1 유월절과 무교절이 되기 이틀 전이었습니다. 대제사장들과 율법학자들이 흉계를 꾸며, 예수님을 아무도 모르게 잡아서 죽이려고 하였습니다.
2 이들이 말했습니다. “명절 동안에는 안 돼. 사람들이 소동을 일으킬 수 있어.”
3 예수님께서 베다니 마을에 있는, 문둥병에 걸렸던 시몬의 집에서 음식을 드시고 계셨습니다. 한 여자가 매우 비싼 나드 향유 한 병을 가지고 왔습니다. 그리고 병을 열고, 향유를 예수님의 머리에 부었습니다.
4 그러자 몇몇 사람이 화를 내면서, 서로 말했습니다. “어째서 향유를 낭비하는 거지?
5 이 향유는 삼백 데나리온에 팔 수 있고, 그 돈으로 가난한 사람들을 도울 수도 있었을 텐데.” 그리고 여자를 호되게 나무랐습니다.
6 예수님께서 말씀하셨습니다. “가만두어라. 어째서 여자를 괴롭히느냐? 그는 내게 좋은 일을 했다.
7 가난한 사람들은 항상 너희와 함께 있으므로, 원하면 언제든지 좋은 일을 할 수 있다. 그러나 나는 항상 너희와 함께 있는 것이 아니다.
8 여자는 자기가 할 수 있는 일을 했다. 죽기 전에 내 장례를 위해 내 몸에 향유를 부어 준 것이다.
9 내가 너희에게 진정으로 말한다. 복음이 온 세상에 전해질 때, 이 여인이 한 일도 알려져서, 사람들이 기억하게 될 것이다.”
10 열두 제자 가운데 한 사람인, 가룟 유다가 예수님을 넘겨 주려고 대제사장들에게 갔습니다.
11 대제사장들은 이 말을 듣고 기뻐했습니다. 그리고 유다에게 돈을 주기로 약속했습니다. 그래서 유다는 예수님을 넘겨 줄 좋은 기회를 엿보기 시작했습니다.

1 It was now two days before Passover and the Festival of Unleavened Bread. The leading priests and the teachers of religious law were still looking for an opportunity to capture Jesus secretly and kill him.
2 "But not during the Passover celebration," they agreed, "or the people may riot."
3 Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon, a man who had previously had leprosy. While he was eating①, a woman came in with a beautiful alabaster jar of expensive perfume made from essence of nard. She broke open the jar and poured the perfume over his head. / ①Or reclining
4 Some of those at the table were indignant. "Why waste such expensive perfume?" they asked.
5 "It could have been sold for a year's wages① and the money given to the poor!" So they scolded her harshly. / ①Greek for 300 denarii. A denarius was equivalent to a laborer's full day's wage
6 But Jesus replied, "Leave her alone. Why criticize her for doing such a good thing to me?
7 You will always have the poor among you, and you can help them whenever you want to. But you will not always have me.
8 She has done what she could and has anointed my body for burial ahead of time.
9 I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is preached throughout the world, this woman's deed will be remembered and discussed."
10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests to arrange to betray Jesus to them.
11 They were delighted when they heard why he had come, and they promised to give him money. So he began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus.
