성경말씀: 로마서 12:1-3

12:1 형제들이여, 내가 하나님의 자비하심으로 여러분에게 권면합니다. 모쪼록 여러분의 몸을 하나님께서 기뻐하며 받으실 거룩한 산 제물로 바치십시오. 이것이야말로 여러분이 하나님께 드릴 합당한 영적 예배입니다.
12:2 여러분은 이 세상의 풍조를 더 이상 본받지 말고, 여러분의 마음을 새롭게 하여 변화되십시오. 그리하여 여러분은 하나님의 뜻이 무엇인지, 또 하나님께서 기뻐하시는 선하고 온전한 뜻이 어디에 있는지 옳게 분별하여, 그것을 받아들이도록 하십시오.
12:3 ○ 나는 하나님의 은혜를 받은 사람으로서 여러분 한 사람 한 사람에게 진심으로 말합니다. 여러분은 자신에 대해 마땅히 생각해야 할 그 이상의 교만한 생각을 하지 말고, 하나님께서 주신 믿음의 분량에 따라 여러분 자신을 분수에 맞게 올바로 평가하십시오. (쉬운말 성경)

 

1 And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. 3 Because of the privilege and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves, measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.( New Living Translation)

성경말씀: 사도행전 24:1-9, 24-27

24:1 닷새 후, 대제사장 아나니아가 장로들 몇 사람과 ‘더둘로’라는 법률가를 데리고 가이사랴로 내려와서, 벨릭스 총독에게 바울을 고소했다.2 바울이 불려 나오자, 더 둘로는 바울을 이렇게 고소했다. “존경하는 벨릭스 각하, 우리 유대인들은 각하 덕분에 오랜 동안 평화로운 세월을 누려 왔습니다. 각하의 선견지명 덕분에, 이 나라의 많은 것들이 크게 개선되었습니다. 3 우리는 모든 면에서 탁월하신 총독 각하께 대해 항상 깊이 감사드리고 있습니다. 4 이제 각하를 오래 괴롭히지 않고자, 이 사람에 대한 고소의 줄거리만을 간략하게 말씀드리고자 하오니, 잠시 제 말을 들어 주시기 바랍니다. 5 이 사람 바울은 온 세상을 돌아다니며 유대인들을 충동질하여 반란을 일으키려고 하는 말썽쟁이입니다. 이 사람은 나사렛 도당의 두목으로서, 6 거룩한 성전까지 더럽히려고 했습니다. 우리가 그를 체포했던 것도 그 때문입니다. 24 ○ 며칠 후, 총독 벨릭스는 유대 사람인 자기 아내 드루실라와 함께 와서 바울을 불러냈다. 그러고는 그리스도 예수를 믿는 신앙에 대해서 바울의 이야기를 들었다.25 예수의 도를 말하면서 바울이 정의와 절제와 장차 올 심판에 대해 설교하자, 벨릭스는 두려워하면서 말했다. “자, 그만하면 되었소. 이제 가 보시오. 기회를 봐서, 당신을 다시 부르도록 하겠소.” 26 그러면서도 총독은 바울이 자신에게 뇌물 바치기를 은근히 바라면서, 그를 자주 불러내어 대화를 나누었다. 27 ○ 이렇게 두 해가 지난 뒤, 벨릭스의 후임으로 보르기오 베스도가 가이사랴 총독으로 부임하게 되었다. 그런데도 벨릭스는 유대인들의 환심을 사려고 바울을 감옥에 그대로 가두어 둔 채로 내버려 두었다. 1 Five days later Ananias, the high priest, arrived with some of the Jewish elders and the lawyer[a] Tertullus, to present their case against Paul to the governor. 2 When Paul was called in, Tertullus presented the charges against Paul in the following address to the governor:

“You have provided a long period of peace for us Jews and with foresight have enacted reforms for us. 3 For all of this, Your Excellency, we are very grateful to you. 4 But I don’t want to bore you, so please give me your attention for only a moment. 5 We have found this man to be a troublemaker who is constantly stirring up riots among the Jews all over the world. He is a ringleader of the cult known as the Nazarenes. 6 Furthermore, he was trying to desecrate the Temple when we arrested him.[b] 8 You can find out the truth of our accusations by examining him yourself.” 9 Then the other Jews chimed in, declaring that everything Tertullus said was true.

 

24 A few days later Felix came back with his wife, Drusilla, who was Jewish. Sending for Paul, they listened as he told them about faith in Christ Jesus. 25 As he reasoned with them about righteousness and self-control and the coming day of judgment, Felix became frightened. “Go away for now,” he replied. “When it is more convenient, I’ll call for you again.” 26 He also hoped that Paul would bribe him, so he sent for him quite often and talked with him.

27 After two years went by in this way, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And because Felix wanted to gain favor with the Jewish people, he left Paul in prison.(New Living Translation)

23 ○ 천부장은 즉시 백부장 두 사람을 불러 명령했다. “너희는 오늘 밤 아홉 시에 가이사랴로 출발할 수 있도록 보병 200명과 마병 70명, 그리고 창을 쓰는 병사 200명을 대기시켜라. 24 또 바울을 벨릭스 총독에게 무사히 호송할 수 있도록 그를 태울 말도 준비하라.” 25 그런 명령을 내린 뒤, 이어 천부장은 총독에게 보내는 편지를 썼다. 26 “글라우디오 루시아가 총독 벨릭스 각하께 문안을 드립니다. 27 제가 보내는 이 사람은 유대인들에게 붙잡혀 살해당할 위험에 처했으나, 제가 군인들을 보내어 구출해 냈습니다. 그가 로마 시민이라는 것을 알았기 때문입니다. 28 저는 유대인들이 왜 이 사람을 고발했는지, 그 이유를 알고자 그를 유대인의 공회로 데리고 갔습니다. 29 그 결과, 저는 그가 유대인들의 율법 문제로 고발을 당했다는 것을 알게 되었지만, 그를 감옥에 가두거나 혹은 사형을 시킬 만한 죄는 발견할 수 없었습니다. 30 그런데도 그를 암살하려는 음모가 있다는 정보를 듣게 되어, 곧바로 그를 각하께로 보냅니다. 그리고 그를 고발한 자들에게도 앞으로는 그에 대한 사건을 각하 앞에 제소하도록 일러 두었습니다.” 31 ○ 천부장에게서 명령을 받은 대로, 군인들은 그날 밤에 바울을 안디바드리까지 호송했다. 32 이튿날, 군인들은 바울을 호송하는 일을 마병들에게 맡기고 병영으로 되돌아갔다. 33 마병들이 바울을 호송하여 가이사랴에 무사히 도착하자, 그들은 천부장이 보낸 편지와 함께 바울을 벨릭스 총독에게 넘겨주었다. 34 총독은 천부장에 보낸 편지를 다 읽은 다음, 바울에게 어디 출신인가를 물었다. 바울이 대답했다. “길리기아 출신입니다.” 35 총독이 바울에게 말했다. “당신을 고소한 자들이 이리로 오게 되면, 그때 당신의 말을 듣기로 하겠다.” 그런 뒤, 총독은 바울을 헤롯 궁 안에 가둬 놓고 잘 지키라고 명령했다. 23 Then the commander called two of his officers and ordered, “Get 200 soldiers ready to leave for Caesarea at nine o’clock tonight. Also take 200 spearmen and 70 mounted troops. 24 Provide horses for Paul to ride, and get him safely to Governor Felix.” 25 Then he wrote this letter to the governor 26 “From Claudius Lysias, to his Excellency, Governor Felix: Greetings! 27 “This man was seized by some Jews, and they were about to kill him when I arrived with the troops. When I learned that he was a Roman citizen, I removed him to safety. 28 Then I took him to their high council to try to learn the basis of the accusations against him. 29 I soon discovered the charge was something regarding their religious law—certainly nothing worthy of imprisonment or death. 30 But when I was informed of a plot to kill him, I immediately sent him on to you. I have told his accusers to bring their charges before you.” 31 So that night, as ordered, the soldiers took Paul as far as Antipatris. 32 They returned to the fortress the next morning, while the mounted troops took him on to Caesarea. 33 When they arrived in Caesarea, they presented Paul and the letter to Governor Felix. 34 He read it and then asked Paul what province he was from. “Cilicia,” Paul answered. 35 “I will hear your case myself when your accusers arrive,” the governor told him. Then the governor ordered him kept in the prison at Herod’s headquarters.(New Living Translation)

12 ○ 이튿날 아침, 유대인들은 한데 뭉쳐 모의한 뒤에, 바울을 죽이기 전에는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않겠다고 굳게 맹세했다. 13 바울을 죽이려는 이 모의에 가담한 사람은 무려 40명이 넘었다. 14 그들은 대제사장과 장로들에게 가서 말했다. “우리는 바울을 죽이기 전에는 아무것도 먹지 않기로 굳게 다짐했습니다. 15 그러니 이제 여러분과 의원들은 더 정확하게 조사할 일이 있다면서, 바울을 여러분들 앞에 데려오도록 천부장에게 요청하십시오. 그러면 우리는 바울이 이리로 오는 도중에 그를 감쪽같이 죽여 없앨 것입니다. 우리는 그런 만반의 준비를 다 해 놓았습니다.”16 ○ 그런데 바울의 조카가 이 음모에 대해 미리 알아채고는, 급히 로마 병영으로 달려가 바울에게 그 사실을 알려 주었다. 17 바울이 백부장 한 사람을 불러 말했다. “이 청년을 즉시 천부장에게 데려다 주십시오. 긴히 전할 말이 있다고 합니다.”18 백부장이 청년을 천부장에게 데려다 주며 보고했다. “죄수 바울이 저를 부르더니, 이 청년을 대장님께 즉시 데려다 주라고 했습니다. 긴히 드릴 말씀이 있다고 합니다.”19 천부장은 청년의 손을 잡고 한쪽으로 데리고 가더니 물었다. “내게 긴히 전하겠다는 말이 무엇인가?”20 청년이 말했다. “유대인들이 대장님을 찾아와서, 내일 바울을 한 번 더 공회 앞에 데리고 나와 달라고 요구할 것입니다. 그들은 그렇게 요구하기로 공모했습니다.21 그러나 대장님께서 그것을 허락하시면 안 됩니다. 40명이 넘는 유대인들이 도중에 바울을 덮쳐 죽이려고 길가에 잠복해 있습니다. 그 사람들은 하나로 뭉쳐 바울을 죽이기 전에는 먹지도 않고 마시지도 않겠다고 서약을 했습니다. 그 사람들은 지금 바울을 죽일 만반의 준비를 다 갖춰 놓고, 대장님의 허락만 기다리고 있습니다.”22 천부장이 말했다. “알았다, 이 사실을 나에게 알렸다는 말을 아무에게도 하지 말라.” 이렇게 당부한 뒤, 천부장은 그 청년을 돌려보냈다. 23 ○ 천부장은 즉시 백부장 두 사람을 불러 명령했다. “너희는 오늘 밤 아홉 시에 가이사랴로 출발할 수 있도록 보병 200명과 마병 70명, 그리고 창을 쓰는 병사 200명을 대기시켜라. 24 또 바울을 벨릭스 총독에게 무사히 호송할 수 있도록 그를 태울 말도 준비하라.(쉬운말 성경)

12 The next morning a group of Jews got together and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. 13 There were more than forty of them in the conspiracy. 14 They went to the leading priests and elders and told them, “We have bound ourselves with an oath to eat nothing until we have killed Paul. 15 So you and the high council should ask the commander to bring Paul back to the council again. Pretend you want to examine his case more fully. We will kill him on the way.” 16 But Paul’s nephew—his sister’s son—heard of their plan and went to the fortress and told Paul. 17 Paul called for one of the Roman officers[e] and said, “Take this young man to the commander. He has something important to tell him.” 18 So the officer did, explaining, “Paul, the prisoner, called me over and asked me to bring this young man to you because he has something to tell you.” 19 The commander took his hand, led him aside, and asked, “What is it you want to tell me?” 20 Paul’s nephew told him, “Some Jews are going to ask you to bring Paul before the high council tomorrow, pretending they want to get some more information. 21 But don’t do it! There are more than forty men hiding along the way ready to ambush him. They have vowed not to eat or drink anything until they have killed him. They are ready now, just waiting for your consent.” 22 “Don’t let anyone know you told me this,” the commander warned the young man. 23 Then the commander called two of his officers and ordered, “Get 200 soldiers ready to leave for Caesarea at nine o’clock tonight. 1 바울이 공회를 주목하여 가로되 여러분 형제들아 오늘날까지 내가 범사에 양심을 따라 하나님을 섬겼노라 하거늘… 6 바울이 그 중 일부는 사두개인이요 다른 일부는 바리새인인 줄 알고 공회에서 외쳐 이르되 여러분 형제들아 나는 바리새인이요 또 바리새인의 아들이라 죽은 자의 소망 곧 부활로 말미암아 내가 심문을 받노라7 그 말을 한즉 바리새인과 사두개인 사이에 다툼이 생겨 무리가 나누어지니8 이는 사두개인은 부활도 없고 천사도 없고 영도 없다 하고 바리새인은 다 있다 함이라 9 크게 떠들새 바리새인 편에서 몇 서기관이 일어나 다투어 이르되 우리가 이 사람을 보니 악한 것이 없도다 혹 영이나 혹 천사가 그에게 말하였으면 어찌 하겠느냐 하여10 큰 분쟁이 생기니 천부장은 바울이 그들에게 찢겨질까 하여 군인을 명하여 내려가 무리 가운데서 빼앗아 가지고 영내로 들어가라 하니라11 그 날 밤에 주께서 바울 곁에 서서 이르시되 담대하라 네가 예루살렘에서 나의 일을 증언한 것 같이 로마에서도 증언하여야 하리라 하시니라 (쉬운말 성경)

1Gazing intently at the high council,[a] Paul began: “Brothers, I have always lived before God with a clear conscience!” 6 Paul realized that some members of the high council were Sadducees and some were Pharisees, so he shouted, “Brothers, I am a Pharisee, as were my ancestors! And I am on trial because my hope is in the resurrection of the dead!” 7 This divided the council—the Pharisees against the Sadducees 8 for the Sadducees say there is no resurrection or angels or spirits, but the Pharisees believe in all of these.  9 So there was a great uproar. Some of the teachers of religious law who were Pharisees jumped up and began to argue forcefully. “We see nothing wrong with him,” they shouted. “Perhaps a spirit or an angel spoke to him.”  10 As the conflict grew more violent, the commander was afraid they would tear Paul apart. So he ordered his soldiers to go and rescue him by force and take him back to the fortress. 11 That night the Lord appeared to Paul and said, “Be encouraged, Paul. Just as you have been a witness to me here in Jerusalem, you must preach the Good News in Rome as well.” (New Living Translation)
